MD Babul Bangladesh Representative

In his address to the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers as the leader of the Bangladesh delegation, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Humayun Kabir called for the formation of a strong, modern and dynamic OIC to address the challenges facing the entire Muslim Ummah. The pledge was made at the 52nd session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) held in Baghdad, Iraq. This year’s CFM is particularly significant as the ongoing conflict in the Middle East is seriously undermining global peace and stability and disrupting supply chains.

The State Minister particularly called on OIC member states and the wider international community to actively engage and continue to pressure the Myanmar authorities to ensure the safe, dignified and sustainable return of the Rohingya to their homeland. He stressed that the Muslim Ummah must work collectively and proactively to resolve this crisis.

The State Minister also stressed the need for continued dialogue to resolve the conflict in the Middle East. He called for an end to Israeli brutality against the Palestinian people, including women and children, and for the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state in accordance with the 1967 border agreements.

Expressing concern over the rise of Islamophobia, he called on the Ummah to take a concerted action involving all stakeholders to address this issue.
